In a continuing effort to bring CPU usage under control,
we are experimenting with splitting our mail services
across two servers: one intented to handle primarily
POP3 connections and another intended to handle SMTP
connections.

We have set the 'remote gateway' option active and
entered the IP address of the second mail server.

Unfortunately, IMail insists on sending all mail (even
mail within local domains) out the gateway and then
back in.

Is my interpretation of the *remote* gateway function
incorrect? It would seem that local mail would stay
local and mail destined for other domains would be the
only mail routed out from the machine.

Any feedback would be welcome.
