I doubt that would have any of the desired effects.

Renaming the virtual domain (in the Registry) will 
accomplish this.  The server will forget that it 
receives mail for the domain, and if your relay 
permissions are appropriate, senders will get "not 
local domain, not a gateway."  Rename it back and 
you'll be back to normal.
