Neil,

IMail has a built-in provision for detecting that a given message "has
already been here" and stop this particular problem. Not sure if it solves
the problem of circular aliases as you put it, though (I think not, based on
what you're saying). Then again, implementing a bullet-proof guard against
circularity would not be a trivial task, in my view. Imagine an address
being aliased to another address, itself aliased to another address [repeat
ad nauseam] with the final alias pointing the the first address...
