I've read recent comments where support for those two products in horrendous. >I've got two questions: > >A) I've looked and looked, but I can't see in the docs how you enable >users to create their own accounts. I give up... How do you do it? there are scripts for doing that. on www.ipswitch.com, check the imail utils page, the knowledge base, and this list's archives. >B) Anyone have any comments on Imail vs. Mailmax? I'm interested in >anything, positive or negative, in either direction. Nothing very factual or firsthand about Mailmax, since I've only seen it referred to in other mailing lists, and it seems ok for smaller configs, say up to 1000 accounts, and the support from Mailmax seems to be very poor. The webmail also seems to be pretty weak. If Smartmax, or anybody else, doesn't run a mailing list for it, I wouldn't touch it.
