Due to a customer requirement, I have been running a Mailmax setup. It
sucks. At random intervals the server seems to lose its ability to
correctly resolve certain destination mail hosts. What is worse, it give
no indication that the mail was not delivered. The mail just goes
missing. Stopping and starting the services usually (but not always)
solves the problem.

I have been able to demonstrate this to Smartmax support, and they blame
the problem on my DNS. Of course, I am running Imail using the same DNS
servers with no problems.

The Mailmax version I have uses an Access database. It seems to me that
the problem surfaces more when traffic is higher. It is possible that
Access is the problem, and that the SQLServer version is better.
Personally I wouldn't bet on it.
