> We could send 300-500 at a time - would this help matters?

300-500 serialized recipients "at a time" is not a relevant figure.
What's important is how many parallel sets of serialized recipients
you're attempting to send. Imail can't handle a large number of
parallel processes, so it ends up laying the processes end to end
(without giving you feedback to that effect). The delay between the
processes can be lessened considerably if you are running a Declude
product, as Scott has treated one of Imail's process overflow issues
in his product. And the more upstream Smart Hosts you can use (MS SMTP
will do fine) to take the end-to-end sending tasks off the Imail box,
the better for timely delivery.

If your client is willing to pay for whatever you specify, this can be
done with Imail and an array of MS SMTP servers. It is not, however,
the best setup for list serving, since you basically have to do an
end-run around Imail's inherent limitations to keep Imail in the
picure.

You send an e-mail to the list address--just as you do with this list
(the Imail Forum!). Yes, this could be done using IMAIL1 as the MUA.
