Scott,
I think you are SOL if you are running virtual domains. I called
Ipswitch about this awhile back and they told me the reason it doesn't
work is a FEATURE or Imail? Like that's how it should work?? The logic
baffles me, but the fact is if you are using virtuals you can't limit
storage. You can limit message size globally via Web Messaging, but not
SMTP. You have to go into each domain and setting the limits, but this
is a pain. Then the host admin can change any of these settings or if
any new account is added they will not inherit the limits. This is a
real problem when you have 1,000 virtuals on a mail server. I was hoping
you could change all this via registry and then just run a script that
goes through the entire registry and sets limits, but this too doesn't
work.

IMHO this, only second to list serve, is the thing that Imail needs the
most work on.

Subject: [IMail Forum] restricting mailbox sizes

Hi,

I have what I believe is a simple question. We use the web based
control
panel for administrative purposes on IMail Server v6 and would like to
setup
each new domain name so that the following are true:
- max single email size of 5Mb
- mailbox sizes have a max size of 10Mb that the Host Administrator
can't
control. In other words, if the host administrator sets up a new
account,
they can't change the default size of 10Mb.

Is this easily possible? Do I need to change the html templates to keep
from changing the 10Mb?

About the max single email size of 5Mb, when setting up a new virtual
host,
I see a field called: "Single Message Max Size". This appears to be in
bytes
and is in all the documentation. But, I can't seem to get this to fail.
I've setup a new virtual host where this is set to 1,000,000 and I've
even
tried 1 but I can't see to get it to fail back because of the message
being
too large.

What am I missing? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Scott
