Yes. It is that simple. However you have to also backup the registry where
IMAIL settings are. In the ipswitch KB you can find the info on how to
backup it and restore it.

as for my self...I stopped using tapes a long time ago. I use 2 servers in
the network to store backups using Windows 2K backup technology which is
very fast. I configured my server to make backups everyday (seven days in a
row). I backup my entire imail directory. You can also set a command line
program to backup the registry daily and put the file in your imail
directory. I set the backup file in a hard drive in another server within my
network and from time to time those files are backup again in another
server.

that way if I lost my production server. I just have to resintall the O/S
and get things back on track within few hours without fighting against a
tape. If I lost my primary repository backup disk I still have another
one....and if I loose my secundary backup server.. I start crying. However
from time to time I backup the Imail registry part in my own portable
computer... if I have that I can get back to business without a problem...of
course some emails would be lost.

Nevertheless I am using a secundary mailserver (spool and forward server).
If I loose my mail server all emails are redirected to MX 20 while I
reconfigured the primary mail server. I can do that in less than a day and
then when done, the primary server automatically receives the emails from
the secundary mail server.

see you
