We upgraded from 7.0x to 7.07 using the latest patch. This did not effect
every Domain name on the system just a few, however, I did not want to take
any chances so I changed all the aliases to a full address. The thing I
find odd is that it only effects some domains. I did a test on one domain
name with an incomplete e-mail address and the message bounced. The Bounce
message said Imail could not deliver to name@localhost, that made no sense.
I never changed anything to do with the host name. So I then added the
domain name, and of-course it worked. I did another test on another Domain
without the full address, this one got delivered. Each Domain assigned to
Imail has a DEDICATED IP address and ALIAS name associated to it.
For example:
MAIL.whatever.com uses ip address 204.90.90.2 (we don't have CNAMES)
MAIL.whatever.com is the OFFICIAL HOST NAME
SMTP.whatever.com is and ALIAS name
POP3.whatever.com is and ALIAS name
whatever.com is and ALIAS name
So according to IPSwitch I should be able to set up and ALIAS within that
domain without a full address, as long as it is local to the DOMAIN or
ALIAS.
Alias - "test" resolves to "Joe" should go to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
otherwise if IPSwitch changed this I have to do this:
Alias - "test" resolves to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

Tom
