Have you checked the hard drive to see if the .mbx files are still
there? I'll bet they are. Most likely, the "Top Directory" for your
domain(s) got changed. If that isn't it, what exactly was deleted? The
entire "users" directory (which would likely mean that someone used a
GUI and accidentally deleted the entire directory)? Or are all the user
directories present, with no files in them?
Sorry for not be clear.
Imail is installed on E:\Imail and all of my users are:
E:\Imail\Users. All user folders where there, but all of the mailbox.mbx
where empty.
Were the main.mbx files present but 0 bytes long, or were they not there
at all?
yes the main.mbx were 0 bytes.
Did this happen to all the users, or just some of them?
all users
I was working on some spamfilter.rul files sometime around the currents
of the phenomenon. Here's some examples:
S~ILOVEYOU:NUL
S~fwd: Joke:NUL
S~Important Message From:NUL
S~Mother's Day Order Confirmation:NUL
S~viagra:NUL
S~earn more moeny:NUL
If this caused the change of events, I would think that it would only
delete messages and not folders.
That shouldn't cause the problem you experienced -- you are correct that
it should only delete individual messages.
Are you running a virus scanner on the server? Someone had mentioned that
if you run a virus scanner, it could see a virus in an .mbx file and
delete the whole .mbx file.
We are only running declude spam and virus pro with f-prot for dos.
