Hi,

I am having an issue with Imail. It has been running flawlessly
for almost a year. This past weekend I installed the most recent
patches from MS for security related issues (we run nt 4), the
last patch we installed Q810833i.EXE

Now we have periods of no mail being delivered, not even being
logged in the sysxxxx.txt file, so I am at a loss on how to
diagnose this. I restart smtp, but then it will deliver new mail,
but old mail is delayed for hours.

Tonight I just recently upgraded imail from 7.1 to 7.14 to see if
that would fix this issue. But we still have a giant backlog.

We run declude junk mail.

We seem to NOT have a traffic surge. The box seems to be running
normal, no dictionary attack etc. But right now I have 8,390
pieces of mail in my spool (we have ~20,000 active users so we do
see decent mail volumes, but have never had this issue).

I checked dns and the upstream dns imail points to and that seems
fine.

So a couple of questions. I tried to search the archives for
help, but can't seem to find any, so I will post the questions
here, if you know what is going on or can help (don't worry I will
not corral you in and force you to work for me..) if you can cc
[EMAIL PROTECTED] as well I would appreciate it as that is on
another server and I may not see the mail here.

The questions.

Any idea why? Or what to look for? What logs? What to look for?

Best way to deal with the Queue backup? Should I stop declude
while it plows through it? Can I remove some mails and slowly
feed them back in to not overwhelm the server?

Thanks in advance.

Chet
