I can recommend one site that isn't too inaccurate: http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/. Also, a program I use _a lot_ is Qcheck. It can be downloaded from http://www.netiq.com/qcheck/default.asp. It requires an install on your machine, and on a remote machine. I'd be willing to let you use my endpoint to check it against. Of course all of these test are contingent on network load.
I also use MRTG pretty exclusively for graphing bandwidth patterns. I've never actually used it on a *nix box, but it's simple to install on a Windows box. It's funny that you started this thread, I _just_ had a client call and complain that he wasn't seeing the bandwidth that we sold him. I'm in the process now of proving to him that he is getting what he paid for!! -Russ -- Russ Uhte, CCNA, MCP, A+ Network Administrator Richmond Power & Light Parallax Systems Division 765.973.7348 > -----Original Message----- > From: John Tolmachoff [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2003 11:57 AM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [IMail Forum] OT: Auto check new ISP bandwidth > > > Does any one know of software that can check the bandwidth > available on line > during a 24 day? > > Or how about an external service that will run a test against > an IP on my > network? > > We have a new ISP and I am getting some complaints from clients. > > Oh, and low cost (free) is a must. > > John Tolmachoff MCSE, CSSA > IT Manager, Network Engineer > RelianceSoft, Inc. > Fullerton, CA 92835 > www.reliancesoft.com > > > > > To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html > List Archive: > http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%> 40list.ipswitch.com/ > > Knowledge Base/FAQ: > http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ > --- > [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus] > --- CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: This email and any attachments are for the exclusive and confidential use of the intended recipient.
