Subject: [IMail Forum] Connecting thru aol
I have a user who is trying to connect to our server thru AOL to
send/receive his e-mail using Outlook Express. He is unable to and receives
this error message:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'your_account',
Server:'your_POP3_server', Protocol:POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): NO,
Socket error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800ccc0e
or the same thing but with SMPT and 25 when he tries to send mail.
To see if it was an OE problem, I him "telnet mail.kalnet.net 110" and he
still was unable to connect. He is able to connect thru the web interface,
but all his contacts are in OE and wants to use that. AOL's customer
support denies blocking ports 25 and 110. Is there anything else that
somebody can think of?
