Thanks Len. What I ideally would like to configure is a box performing spam and virus scanning, then passing this on to the main IMail box for users to have clean email and no bogged-down processes.
Since I'm using Declude for Spam and Virus scanning, can an IMGate box take on the Declude processes as well. b ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Len Conrad <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Sat, 01 Mar 2003 14:04:22 -0600 > >>Can someone explain the concept of a Mail gateway. > >welcome to the Imail list. :) > >see IMGate.MEIway.com > >>I currently have over 5000 web email users on one box and am looking for >>ways to fine tune the server and make it more reliable and faster. > >check the list archives for tuning or "defrag" or "mailbox size" or >"partition" for internal optimizations. > >An MX gateway like IMGate allows you to offload a lot of work from Imail to >an external helper machine. > >Len > > >To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html >List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ >Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ >--- >[This E-mail was scanned for Viruses and Spam by Richmond.com] > > To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
