It's not a question of being hard or not
The question is how to do this without the use of external programs or
hardware
This is a lack of functionality in imail that should be corrected in a
later release

Internet protocol specifies that port 25 is used for E-mail. It's great that IMail has a feature that lets it listen to a different port, which is useful when running another mail server on the same server as IMail.

However, just because a lot of ISPs do not provide full Internet access does not mean that IMail should changed to meet your specific requirement. In fact, I would say this is really a firewall issue, and would be much more appropriate to handle on the firewall (since the firewall is going to need to know about the new port anyways).
