Well in our previous mailserver, there was a per-domain setting of
protocols.
Our main need for this is , as described earlier some providers lock
down their mailservers port 25 to all other mailservers ( no virtual
domains though, they need an ip to do this).

Some of our customers need to mail out through us instead of through
their provider though so they usually use port 2525 or something like
that to connect.

At the moment the only option we have is to do extensive manipulations
on our firewall to allow this.

I can't imagine that this would be possible.

However, I also can't imagine a situation where it would be 
necessary.  Perhaps if you explain what you are trying to accomplish, 
someone might be able to come up with a solution?
