I believe there is a white paper on it, but basically, the client (such as Outlook or Outlook Express) checks for mail too frequently.  Outlook begins checking email upon startup of the app, then (while mail is still being downloaded due to either large attachments or multiple messages) the user’s interval for checking mail passes, causing Outlook to query the iMail server for new messages once again.  Since mail is still coming in from the initial check, those mails continue to be received as the second check is initiated and begins downloading the same messages.

I had some users experience this when they’re interval was set to 5 minutes or less.  What I had to do was change the interval for checking mail to 15 minutes, just to be safe.

Hope this helps

Hi all,

Some of our people have been experiencing some weird problems when it comes to Vacation Messaging.

Scenario:

User is set to go on holidays, logs into Imail Web Server and sets vacation message.

User doesn't check email until back in office

People send user emails and get vacation message (no problem there)

User returns from holidays and logs into email and downloads all emails

User gets 2 copys of emails (thats the problem)

Vacation message turned off.

Why would the user get 2 copys of all emails?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jay
