Thanks for all replies -- I have a very simple filter (written using Cygwin C) that works as advertised ... must have been problem with batch file AND with VB apps. Never use a toy for a real job. :)
Thanks also to Travis for tip to IMGATE, looks promising ... I'll spend a couple more hours seeing if I can kludge something together with SpamAssassin, if not, IMGATE might be the ticket. And don't get me started on the whole "you could buy it for less than it would take to build it"... i've given up on that argument around here !! :) --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
