Along the lines of this topic has anyone attempted to move to a "fresh" box running a newer version of Imail. We have a server running v7.07 that we will be upgrading to v8 on new hardware in a few days. If I copy my users mail and registry information over to the new box, then install v8.0 from scratch, will it see the v7 registry key and upgrade accordingly?
Or should I follow standard procedures moving to a new v7 box then upgrade all to v8 using standard upgrade instructions. I have accomplished this several times in the past but never tried an upgrade without a working Imail install. Just curious if anyone had ever tried. Couldn't get to the archives. -Jack ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sanford Whiteman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Ives Stoddard" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2003 8:07 PM Subject: Re[2]: [IMail Forum] **move to new box, but a clean box** > > If you create a new server from scratch without importing old server registry > > keys, make sure that you don't have an issue with POP clients recognizing old > > email as new unread messages. > > That shouldn't matter, though: the UIDL cache on the client is based > on the UIDLs within the .MBX file, which, provided it has its original > .UID index, will not change.
