It's always the same tradeoff: do I open up to receive a 1000 SPAM msgs just in case I might get 1 or 2 legit msgs?

I just checked the reverse DNS entries of about 10,000 legitimate E-mails we have here. Of them, 2.5% meet your regexp expression that you posted earlier.

If you find a 2.5% FP ratio acceptable, you're *definitely* in the minority. Most people find a 1% FP ratio way too high. Again, this would probably make for a great test to be used in conjunction with other tests (which will significantly refuse the 2.5% FP ratio), but for most people it would be completely unacceptable to bounce that much legitimate E-mail.
