Hi,

I've got Imail running behind a Coyote Linux Firewall doing NAT and port
forwarding. This forwards port 25 on to the imail box. Everything works
fine

I have selected "No relay" on the smtp services security tab.

If I send mail from a host on the local network (10.x.x.x/255.255.0.0)
then they have to authenticate or they don't send - so far so good.

When I use a mail client (such outlook express) on a pc dialled in to my
ISP then I can send with no authentication. Interestingl, if I telnet to
the server I get no joy unless I use a local user ID. If I run the open
relay tools at abuse.net it passes all tests and reports that its not a
relay.

I'm guessing that this is related to the port forwarding - the Imail
server is seeing the inbound (from outside) smtp stuff as originating
from itself and so is sending it???

So on to my question - how secure am I? and what can I do to get it to
behave as I want to - ie anyone that sends has to authenticate?

Regards,
Guy
