400'!!! What about tornadoes or a freak asteroid? :) Just kidding, sounds like you have a good viable backup solution.
The company I work for is an ISP and an online offsite backup solution provider. We have the backup server of our backup server 30 miles away from our main office. I think there are even tape backups of our backup, backup server, though I don't know too much about it, I am just a programmer monkey that likes to dabble with the mail server. :) I just load the backup software on my workstation and servers when I happen to install one and am done with it, though it has saved my ass a couple times. :) Nathan Fouarge Amberwave Communications 114 N Dodge Algona, IA 50511 515-295-6900 x33 -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sheldon Koehler Sent: Monday, July 07, 2003 3:51 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > I'm sure most people know this, but I would be surprised if there > aren't some people on this list who would be tempted to go for the backup tapes. That is the beauty of our setup! Our computers are offsite by about 400' and we have a fiber between locations for offsite backups done automatically with a tape changer. We have a set of tapes offsite as well. Our office is in an older building that has no sprinkler system. In case of fire, I am out of here! If I have it with me, I will grab my camera... to take pictures!!! BTW, I was the first one out of the building a couple of years ago when Washington had that earthquake that did major damage in Seattle and Olympia (they are still working on the capital dome). Having grown up in Southern California, I did not like the way the ground shifted at all. The rest of the earthquakes we have up here, I just laugh at...
