I agree on DNS Len. It is really odd that creating the connector from Exch TO imail 
worked. No connectivity problem????? I have something screwed up I'll need to nail 
down. At least for now both machines are routing mail to the other.

So your internal DNS is not serving the Imail domain with internal IPs?

I would drop the internal DNS now.  it's not a problem you can't fix.

Use hosts file on both machines to resolve the other machine and continue 
to see why exchange going to the internal IP of IMail has TCP 
problems.  Once you get that fixed, you can go back and play with internal 
DNS (but I don't know why you would bother).
