OK,

Here is some new information and a new test account. I have discovered that
the problem is only on our primary mail domain. This domain happens to be
using Windows NT authentication (The web server is one of our BDC's). We
did this to eliminate additional password for our users. I have set up an
account on our server in this different domain (I disabled the other test
account). But vefore I release the info to test it, I want to research my
NT logs to see if I am getting any access errors. It sure looks like it is
server based. I have a question to those that are having the same problems,
what authentication model are you using for your users?

Well,

Hold off on this. I just discovered that the problem we are having mail
be domain related. This test account that I just set up on a different
domain worked for me. I am going to set up another test account on our
primary domain.

I will get back to the list with updated info.

I have attempted to connect to our server from numerous computers
outside of or corporate LAN with varying levels of IE patches installed.
I haven't given access to anyone on my server but I will now. I am going
to activate a throw away account on our server with one email in the
inbox with 1 attachment. Here is the URL to our Webmail:

username: imailtest
password: test

I will be deactivating this account today around 4:00PM Central Time or
if I see a sudden spike in mail traffic.

Please report back to me you results.

Scott,

Although I have no problem with attachments here, I can "force" a
problem under XP. Perhaps it is related to your issue? When I try to
open an attachment, I am prompted (twice for come attachments) to see if
I really want to do so (MS security crap). If I then go "back" before
the attachments opens, I get an expired page, but if I then force a
refresh, I get the attachment all mangled. Sounds like you get this all
the time, perhaps due to IE not properly opening the attachment
(starting the required client) at the client end? Saving works fine in
all cases here.

Have you tried having someone with no problems access attachments on
your srever? Perhaps it is your security settings in MS or IE?

Karen
