Thanks everyone, I figured that was the case, but wanted to ask here anyway. whew! I don't see why it would accept such an address, seeing that it's so blatantly wrong.
it's about as bad as one of our users was complaining a friend at AOL didn't get the mail she sent, well in the TO address she put something like john p smith @ aol.com and wondered why it didn't work. =) I tell ya..... Paul > Actually, that should never have worked. It's possible that an old version > of IMail accepted it as "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" (which isn't what you want), > but I doubt that it ever did. Spaces just aren't allowed (AOL accepts or > accepted spaces in their screen names, and they have to keep telling people > all the time that they must remove the spaces when creating an Internet > address). So IMail should not accept the E-mail. > > You could tell your boss something about how you think that a newer version > of IMail now will reject that E-mail, because of the conflict as to who the > E-mail really should go to (so that if Billy Bob makes a mistake when > giving out his E-mail address, the mail won't go to his neighbor Bob). > > -Scott > --- > Declude JunkMail: The advanced anti-spam solution for IMail mailservers. > Declude Virus: Catches known viruses and is the leader in mailserver > vulnerability detection. > Find out what you have been missing: Ask for a free 30-day evaluation. > > --- > [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] > > > To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html > List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ > Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ > --- > [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus] > > > --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus] To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
