May I suggest that there is something 'wrong' on or at the end of the
second line of the hosts file? I think Sandy asked if you tried to
recreate the hosts file and suggest that you give that a try. On a
very few occasions, I have seen an 'unprintable' character in a hosts
file and the system cannot read past that character.

Print your old , rename it, then use notepad to make a new one (no
copy/paste!!), typing in IP followed by a space (I use the tab) then
the hostname, then hit the enter key, for each line. Make sure the
cursor can be placed on a new line after the last entry and save the
file.

If you then do a file compare of the old and new hosts file, and they
are not exactly the same, you may have found the problem...

HTH,
Dan Donnelly
