If you don't want to apply the 7.15 patch (which is a lot simpler than you might think), you can check to see if the defs have been updated a few other ways.
1) Check C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs\definfo.dat. Look at the 'CurDefs' line. 2) By default, IMail AV will write an entry to the Event Viewer's App Log when virus definitions have been updated. Look for an entry from SYMCScan. It should read: Event Type: Information Event Source: SYMCScan Event Category: None Event ID: 105 Date: 8/20/2003 Time: 10:08:33 PM User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Computer: MART039 Description: [Wed Aug 20 22:08:33 2003],INFORMATION,"The Scan Engine has updated its virus definitions.: 2003-08-20 (5)" Have a good one, Christian -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jim Bruner Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2003 12:50 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Imail AV That's cool..I am going to go to 8.02 or maybe wait on 8.03...I was hoping there was a way to verify the info in 7.10 for now though...probably not upgrading for another month or so... Or, if the auto update function is actually working and keeping the def's up to dat? I am running IMail 7.10...
