I don't think so...I am running the Imail AV add-on which is symantec carrierscan. I have an Anti virus tab in the Imail admin but it provides no info. Only whether or not it is enabled or not etc...I was hoping someone could tell me a way to tell if it is downloading the virus def's automaticly as it is designed to do or tell me away to verify that it even works.
I am asking because the many sobig's that came in last night were caught by my filters and forwarded to my infected box. 2 slipped past the filters...I am wondering if the def's are up to date in Imail AV then why is he not catching them instead of my filters? So, I just want to find a way to verify the Imail AV add-on is doing it's job...for 1000 a year I pay... To determine what definitions are current will depend in what AV has been installed. In many cases IMail admins will be updating their definition files using a task scheduler or possibly in response to an automated email from the AV vendor. In either case it's not too difficult to devise a script that can determine the timestamp of the definition files on the mail server. As an example we use F-Prot and have a task that runs a simple vbs script every hour. The script runs the F-Prot updater via a shell dos command then parses the defs directory returning a list of files and timestamps if an update has taken place. A negative email is sent to just show the system is working and hasn't stalled for whatever reason. Is this what your were after? Or, if the auto update function is actually working and keeping the def's up to dat? I am running IMail 7.10...
