> Did you fix him? NO. There was no need to jump through hoops to fix his issue. He simply needed to follow the manual, which he did on his own well before your reply.
> Did I try to help? YES. Yes, you did. However, your claim that "ODBC is a real pain to configure if the database is not on the same machine" is incorrect--IMail does not care one whit whether the DSN points to (local) or to a dedicated server, except for the performance overhead--and the direction to install SQL on the mailserver, far from a "simple setup," means installing a resource-hungry application on a production box, with reboots, patching and all that. (If you meant to imply that configuring ODBC connections is a "real pain" no matter what the application, I disagree even more strongly, as the time-tested ODBC protocol is very predictable and overwhelmingly well-regarded.) Overall, I believe your advice was well-intentioned but misguided; Lim's easy results corroborate that conclusion. I stand by my desire to eliminate time-consuming and destabilizing work until necessary. -Sandy ------------------------------------ Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
