Do you mean IMail isn't receiving it (as in it never gets saved to the
queue, which could indicate a DNS problem), or that IMail isn't delivering
it (which could be anti-spam, anti-virus, rules, etc.)?

IMail never receives it - no indication in logs of any attempts to connect

If that is really the case, it is almost certainly either a DNS/routing problem, or a problem on their (verizon/att) end.

I have had users do nslookup domain.com and it works fine

That often doesn't provide much information -- it means that some people can probably send you mail. If they are using a DNS server that acts authoritatively for your domain (such as an internal DNS server), it will provide invalid results. Also, it's quite possible that different DNS servers report different results, or there is a problem (such as a CNAME or an MX record pointing to an IP) that could be easily overlooked.

AT&T sends a connection failure notice 4 days later. Verizon goes to a black
hole.

Bingo. This is *very* useful information. What does the AT&T message say?

Do you by any chance have their IP in your SMTP "Control Access" file or perhaps in their firewall? Could it be that their customers were sending you Sobig.F, and you blocked the IP of their outgoing mailserver (if they "hijack" port 25 like AOL does, a virus will appear to be coming from the IP of their mailserver rather than the IP of the victim's computer)?

>I cannot see how AT&T and Verizon would be blocking mail TO my server ip,
>but not FROM my server IP.

You are correct -- it is *extremely* rare for outgoing E-mail to be
blocked. That would normally only happen if your IP was entered into a
firewall.

Have taken firewalls off even. Nada.

Actually, I meant in *their* firewall. If a remote mailserver is blocking mail sent to you, it's probably in their firewall.
