We've also had very good success with the intel chassis.. For mail we go with the 2U 2300 chassis, load it up with 6 drives and configure a raid 0+1.. A raid 5 should be fine if you don't have a lot of mail traffic. I have several imail servers on raid 5 that process over 500k messages per day. They run fine. I am migrating them to raid 0+1 for additional performance and reliability. With the intel 1U boxes your could mirror 2 larger drives.. That would be ample...

This is actually my 2nd "intel" server and it works like a charm. One is 2U (with 2x2.4GHz XEON and RAID5 INTEL card and 4 x36gb SCSI disks), the other is a 1U (with 1x2.4GHz XEON and ATA disks with mirroring). Both are based on the Intel SE7500WV2 board (which has ATA RAID on board). The 2U server is running DEBIAN (for MySQL4), the 1U server is running Windows 2000 for Imail and Wsftp server. These machines are running nicely for about 6 months now, without ANY hickups.
