if you have the Enterprise edition it comes with a SMTP antivirus gateway. this is what we are using. you can install it on the same server but i found it was clunky. in the end we installed it on it's own server and placed it between the imail server and IMgate. the main reason we installed the IMgate was that we were having issues ensuring the Symantec gateway was not an open relay.
since then symantec have updated the product and it is a lot more secure but i still like having the IMgate box recieving all the traffic. I must admit that we don't really use it as an AV scanning box because we delete most attachment types anyway but it has caught some virus's that have sneaked under the wire. I'm asking here if anyone has had a similar need to integrate their existing Anti-virus software with Imail and how they addressed it - this is not asking for Symantec Anti-Virus expertise (since this is not the forum for such a question).
