If  you are indeed so deemphasizing disk I/O in your designs, you need
to  do  some  catch-up  reading on server sizing and benchmarking. The
archives   should   be  able  to  help  immensely.  Hint:  search  for
discussions  of  RAID  levels.  There's no reason to go barking up the
tree  of  other  mail  platforms,  since they need properly sized disk
subsystems as well.
