There are mucho comments on this throughout the archives.
IMail uses the OHN (Official Host Name) to compose the hyperlinks in
Web Messaging and Calendaring, as well as the EHLO hostname and sender
address for automated notifications such as bounces and vacation
messages. You will be the best judge of whether you can create a
workable system with those technical restrictions.
You client issues (IMAP, etc.) have nothing to do with the OHN
question and should be in another thread.
