I just joined this list, so I apologize if this has been addressed, although I couldn't find it in the knowledge base or on the Imail section of the site.
Here's the deal .... I have an IMail server and SMTP works great from a T1 or my home cable modem. However when I'm on the road and use dialup, I can not send email. I can pop it all day long, but get a connection error when I try to send email. I'm using Outlook and have "My outgoing server requires authentication" enabled. This is on my laptop, and the same configuration works with no issues plugged into my cable modem from home, but craps out if I dial up. I've had a couple other users have issues, and chalked it up to stupid user error... now I guess I'm the stupid user and now feel their pain. It is just dialup that is having issues. I've used both MSN and AOL with the same result, so I don't think it is just an AOL thing (which was my first excuse) My SMTP Security settings are set to : Relay Mail for ... and I have one IP address listed in the Addresses file for our webserver, so it can do the old 'send this page to a friend' crap. I also have 'Check valid sender', Refuse Null <> Sender, and Deny possible hack attempts options checked.
