I have looked at the logs, and you're correct, they don't list any connection attempt. I never thought about the ISPs denying SMTP connections to any servers but their own, especially AOL and MSN ? go figure.
Thank you, I'll give the port number 'hack' a try and see if that works. > You should NOT, repeat NOT, be refusing null senders Ok, thanks, I'll uncheck that then. I was figuring that may be the problem, so I was dinking with just about everything. -Jon -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sanford Whiteman Sent: Thursday, March 18, 2004 2:03 PM To: Jonathan Wheat Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] SMTP / DialUp Problems > I have an IMail server and SMTP works great from a T1 or my home > cable modem. Chances are, though, that they will not show any evidence of a connection from your dial-up machine(s), since many ISPs are blocking outgoing SMTP to any servers but their own. If this is the case, you will need to run an additional SMTP server on a non-traditional port, or use a port forwarder to reroute requests on, say, TCP 26 to TCP 25 on your IMail server. > I also have 'Check valid sender', Refuse Null <> Sender, and Deny > possible hack attempts options checked. You should NOT, repeat NOT, be refusing null senders. Many mail servers, including ones we deploy, will happily blacklist you for this offense. --Sandy ------------------------------------ Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! http://www.mailmage.com/download/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/Release/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
