Did  you  previously  have private and public IP addresses on the same
box  (on one or more NICs)? Within the IMail Administrator, do you see
your  primary virtual host--or any virtual host--bound to a private IP
address, even one you thought was no longer active on the system?

There  is  at  least  one  known  issue  with  a broken feature called
BindToIP  (see  the  Ipwitch  KB): in a nutshell, IMail would bind the
outgoing  socket to an IP address that could not actually be routed on
the external interface.
