Morning. Couple of more questions. Is anyone who is having this problem with smtpd32 using any antivirus software on the same server? How about either a software firewall on the same server or a hardware firewall in front of the server?
Just trying to explore some options. Also, since I disabled Dr. Watson, in the Event Viewer, under System log I receive the following: Date 5/18/2004 Time 4:40 User N/A Computer: ###### Source Application Popup Category None Event ID 26 Description: Application popup: SMTPd32.exe - Applicaton Error: The instruction at "0x00ff66bb" referenced memory at "0x014c0fb1". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program Click on CANCEL to debug the program NOW going through the System Log, looking at the various messages that appear to be the same execpt that the "refferenced memory at" address is always different, BUT the "instruction at" memory address is ALWAYS the same. Hmmmm. ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "Jim Mc Cay" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Mon, 17 May 2004 13:27:02 -0500 Afternoon All! I've found by disabling Dr. Watson from starting up, that when SMTPD32 does go down, it comes back up in a few seconds, all by itself without human help. Still was hoping to hear from someone, at this point, who had the SMTPD32 problem, but when the upgraded to 8.1 or 8.11 the issue was resolved. Thanks, jim ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "Jim Mc Cay" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Thu, 13 May 2004 09:13:07 -0500 5-13-04 Just to let everyone know, I did try the suggestion with the hosts file, but this morning around 5:30 the smtpd32 service hung up and stayed that way till I restarted it manually. Again I do appreciate all the feed back. jim ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "Brian Fenlason" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Wed, 12 May 2004 16:36:36 -0400 Yes - C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts on my machine... ~Brian -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sean Diana Sent: Wednesday, May 12, 2004 2:24 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] SMTPD32 - Stopping and Not restaring Automaticly You do mean the windows host file Thank You, Sean Diana IT Department Infosynch Inc. Try replacing any tabs in your hosts file with spaces and then bounce the SMTP server service. Let us know if it clears up your problem. The problem all started fall of 2003 when I upgraded from 8.04 to 8.05. Then I even tried adding the two hotfixes for 8.05, but the frequency of the SMTPD32 service stopping increased. Since it appeared I never had this problem with V8.04 I down graded from V8.05 to V8.04. For a while that seem to fix the issue. Then the problem reared its ugly head again. I've tried things like, disabling all anti-spam features, taking out tabs in the HOSTS file, Defraging, and other things that don't come to mind. All of these things were recommended by Ipswitch, which I thought was still working on this issue. NOW. My question is, has any one that has these same symptoms/problems/issues, upgraded whether it's on the same server or a new server to version 8.11? If so, has the problems gone away? I'm at the end of my rope with this. Any comments, info, help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Jim McCay [EMAIL PROTECTED] .............................................................
