I've used Kiwi Log Server a lot for recording info from routers and firewalls, but never IMail. It's really cool and flexible, worth checking out. I've been using TextPad and like it a lot.

It would be nice if that would stay if you restarted services, however I usually make two to three changes per day that require a SMTP/Queue Manager Start and Stop. Sounds like I would be asking for it. Since I moved the spool directory outside of IMAIL, performance has improved tremendously. Opening 100 meg log files previously would take up to 3 minutes, now only take 15 seconds. The difference is obviously read/write contention and fragmentation. It has also made a tremendous difference in searching the log file. I also will try the UltraEdit, thanks for the recommendation Jason. Anyone use the Kiwi Log Server? Is it ugly or easy to read? It is. Change the spool directory before you start SYSLOGD, then change it back once it's running. It loads the file path only once, at initialization. > I thought I was just unable to find an article on it, but I guess it > is a problem.
