The way I understood it was that you just needed a reverse entry and the names didn't have to match.
An IP's PTR domain name MUST have a A record whose IP matches. If not, everybody could forge msn.com, aol.com in the PTR data field.
the reverse - forward match stops the forgery.
An IP's PTR record (and matching A record) are totally independent from the envelope sender/recip domains transiting the IP and from any MX records.
