There will be an official announcement, probably tomorrow. These new forums
have many features which may serve some users better, but we recognize that
while some people like this type of system others do not. We do encourage
everyone to give the new forums a try, but we do not plan to eliminate this
mailing list.

We have asked about importing the archived list posts but I have been told
that we can't. I personally have never dealt with this type of forum
system, so I don't know if there are any other methods to import the
archives. If anyone has experience with this please let me know.

Please tell me there's a plan to import the tens of thousands of
archived mailing list posts into the new bulletin board system!

And please tell me that, if there's going to be a change in preferred
support channels, there will be an official announcement to the
well-populated and very active mailing list.

The availability of the new system has certainly blindsided the
largely peer-supported mailing list, and it will be very difficult to
provide advanced support--as we have for years--if new IMail users
turn to a relatively unattended channel.
