It sounds to me like a permissions issue.

What are the NTFS permissions on those files? Try and reset the permissions
on the Imail folder and all subfolders to give EVERYONE full-control. Make
sure it resets the permissions on all subfolders!!!

Then try the web again.

Thanks for responding.

The pathname to the list in question is:

   IMail->VirtualHosts->DomainName->Lists-ListName->trailer.txt

When I attempt to create the 'trailer.txt' file using the web interface, the
error message appears, and the file is not created in the pathname.

If I manually create the file on the server hosting IMail (using NotePad),
the file exists in the above pathname.

If I manage the list using the web interface, I can view the contents of the
manually created 'trailer.txt' file. But, if I try to modify the contents, I
get the error message, and the contents are not saved (the original,
manually created contents remain, however).
