Since this person is not on your network, and you most likely have secured
your mail server from relaying, they need to enable SMTP auth in their
client computers. This sends an username and password when sending email.

Subject: [IMail Forum] Cannot Send Messages but Can Recieve Them

Using IMail 8.05 with HF3

We have a customer whose domain is virtually hosted on our IMail server. The
customer can send and receive just fine using web messaging. However, when
using an e-mail client such as Outlook Express, he can receive e-mail
messages but cannot send them outside of the IMail server. That is, he can
send to any other domain hosted on our mail server, but he cannot send to
AOL, Roadrunner, etc. When he tries to send an outside message, the message
is immediately returned, and the IMail log shows 'invalid user'.

If we set up his account on one of our in-house computers, we can send
messages to the same e-mail address with no problem. So, the problem appears
to be local to his computer. Does anyone have any ideas what to look for?

Thanks!
