We've been using a Snap server, from quantum. It's an external hardrive
which comes with back up software to be installed on the client: it
automatically backs up files upon any changes, keeps a history of 3 levels
of back up.
It works pretty well on a windows environment. - I guess there are similar
solutions

I started using paragon.ag drive copy for imaging. Works well. Also, see
http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ for a cd boot disk to restore the images.
These two are a perfect combination. I cloned about 14 workstations Saturday
in about 2 hours.
