I thought I would ask around here as I might get a quicker response.

I have fired up Thunderbird 0.9 and it seems to work. But only seems
to. I can send just fine. I can't receive mail. It appears to work
in that Thunderbird reports no errors and just says 'no new mail'. However my Imail log, when set to verbose, says this:

10:04 13:34 POP3D (00000ED8) logon failure for I0 xxx.xxxxxxx.xxx
from xxx...xxx.xxx.xxx
10:04 13:34 POP3D (00000ed8) connection aborted

Of course this is what I get for using beta s/w... but I thought I'd
ask if anyone had seen this or knew how to fix it.

Saw the same thing with .8, so I put a packet capture on it. What's happening, is that TB is sending the auth credentials in a secured format, and IMail is expecting plain text. I went to Tools, Account Settings, Server Settings, and checked Use Secure Authentication, and everything worked.

Let me know if this works for you as well.

Thanks,
Russ

Oooh- it works for me! Thanx, Russ.

My workaround before your fix was to configure another account using IMAP instead!
