I visited their webpage and my first impression about the *modular* products was really positive. But i don't give up. I hope, that our posts are reflecting the typical, mainstream thinking about the new strategy and somebody at ipswitch takes this serious. Somebody wrote, that the development of IMail was not forced this year. This is really true. I think, that ipswitch used all resources to build up the new ICS. All bug reports and feature requests are disappeared somewhere. This opens a new question, indepenedly of ICS: Does ipswitch move IMail, hh, ICS to a next level? At this time, IMail has a lot of concurrent products, eg. merak, mailenable. Actually IMail has an big bug in the antispam engine since month. No bugfix is available. SPF is already not supported and a few other things. I asked ipswitch for a roadmap a few times. The answer was: "we don't have one". I don't believe this ;-) Before spending a huge amount of money into ICS, general questions about the future and support of the product must be asked. The price moved now from a VW Beetle to an BMW. The criterias for an evaluation in this price range are much more heavier. ICS is now "version 1". OK, the base is IMail and other well known peaces of software, but i have no clue about the collaboration module. I know, that it is a 3Party Software. Ipswitch runs a high risk to fail, i'm sure. At the End, The poor thing is this: We spent a lot of time in IMail. As a gold partner i have no problems with that. With this new strategy i feel like "shot in the back" (We say that in german...) ============================================ Am Dienstag, 26.
