Users and (encrypted) passwords are stored in XML files and
there are no Windows users (CALs) required. Also, I have worked with SmarterTools for a while on the entire product line and they are very responsive and polite to work with on issues and new features. (The also treat their resellers well too.) Perhaps with enough happy customers plugging it like we all did Imail, and maybe some sort of support list with archives like what we have here it may not be all that long before they will be a top seller as well. I think I am going to test it out since I am interested in two of the control panels that support it anyway. My only other question that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is how it stores users and passwords for authentication? Since it is built around the MS .Net framework, I wonder if we will end up needing and unlimited Web CAL for the server that it runs on? If anyone has an answer, please post. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Jeffery Rehm Sent: Sunday, November 07, 2004 6:43 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Watching with dismay I have established communications with SmarterTools early this week and thus far have been happy with the responsed I've gotten. I'll be testing SmarterMail this week and if all goes well I'll be offering it to my customers. Although they are a relatively new company, this doesn't taint my interest. If they would go under or pull something as dumb as Ipswitch, I'd just go with another solution. No big deal. I'm not going to ask my current Imail customers to switch, but when Imail no longer serves their purpose without an upgrade, I'll switch them. With the cost of an Imail SA compared to other solutions, it just doesn't make sense to stick with Ipswitch. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ted Galerneau" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, November 07, 2004 20:14 Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Watching with dismay To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ |
