I found this to be a nightmare too. I went with your option #1. Then let
the users copy their mail to the server themselves if they wanted to.
Most mail was junk anyway and most users never even bothered to do it.
Saved a ton of space on the server. We had pst files that were well over
500MB.

OPTION #1
Basically, we would add the IMAP service to Outlook and point it to the IMail
server. We could then drag and drop the messages from the Inbox and any folders
the user has locally to the Imail server. This seems to work ok, but is very
labor intenstive. I suspect migrating a couple of hundred users in this manner
would be a nightmare.
OPTION #2
Purchase and use something like UniAccess to migrate the email from the .PST to the Imail
server. I have tried UniAccess, and it seems decent, but it my testing, it seems to
"loose" the attachment association in emails it transfers. This is kind of a
deal killer.
Does anyone know of other utilities for mail migration. Again, we need to move
email from the local .PST file to the IMail server...
