Sandy, Thanks for the quick response.
As part of the project plan, we are upgrading Outlook from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2002. We are hoping that our users can continue to use Outlook to access their email stored on the IMail server. We may have users with 300 MB of email storage on IMail, and we are hoping that this email can be accessed via IMAP and Outlook. Is it unrealistic to expect the Imail server to handle that sort of storage? 300mb of email per user doesn't seem like a huge amount of email by today's standards. I am testing a 300MB mail store with Outlook 2002 / IMAP later today or tomorrow.... -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sanford Whiteman Sent: Tuesday, December 07, 2004 10:20 AM To: MARTIN PIGG Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Mail Migration PST to IMail > OPTION #1 > Basically, we would add the IMAP service to Outlook and point it > to the IMail server. But how far are you willing to degrade performance for the sake of getting away from Outlook? Are you anticipating storing 300 MB of messages and accessing them via IMail's Web Messaging as the primary client (not recommended, by any means)? Or are you going to continue to utilize Outlook via IMAP once the migration is complete? You need to do some real baselining to determine the appropriateness of each option and describe your project in more detail: "PST to IMail" certainly does not tell enough of the story. --Sandy ------------------------------------ Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! http://www.mailmage.com/products/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/download/release/ Defuse Dictionary Attacks: Turn Exchange or IMail mailboxes into IMail Aliases! http://www.mailmage.com/products/software/freeutils/exchange2aliases/download/release/ http://www.mailmage.com/products/software/freeutils/ldap2aliases/download/release/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
