This seems wrong to me. IMAP servers are tied to people, not hosts. If I visit your site, I want don't want my IMAP client to suddenly try to connect to your site's IMAP servers.
Agreed. However, will it? The only usage for such a feature is, IMHO, to supply a good default in an account setup dialog.
I don't recall seeing any discussion about this on any of the lists. Anyone know what prompted it?
I can guess. I like Eric Hall's SRV better (and have implemented that).
